Garage Door Repair in Bonita

Bonita is the unincorporated Sweetwater Valley community between National City and Chula Vista, known for larger lots, horse properties and owners who stay for decades. Plenty of homes here have two-car or three-car garages, so one call often covers two doors, two openers and the remotes that run them.

What raises the price: heavy wood or oversized doors, high-cycle or galvanized springs, two doors in one visit.

Do you serve Bonita?

Homes and garage doors in Bonita

Bonita grew from the 1960s through the 1980s, mostly as single-story and split-level ranch homes on lots larger than a typical South Bay tract. The older houses usually carry a wide steel or wood door on extension springs, and the 1980s homes are a mix of extension and torsion setups. Three-car garages show up often on the bigger lots, usually a double door beside a single, and some properties add a detached shop. Because many owners never moved, the springs, cables and openers on a Bonita garage can be as old as the house, and parts that age tend to wear out close together.

Getting to you in Bonita

Bonita Road and Sweetwater Road run the length of the valley. I-805 drops us into the valley at the E Street and Bonita Road exit, SR-54 covers the north side, and the east end near the reservoir is quickest by the SR-125 toll road and San Miguel Ranch Road. The middle stretch of Bonita Road passes the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course and Rohr Park, Bonita Golf Club is out on Sweetwater Road, and from the head of the valley Sweetwater Summit Regional Park looks out over the water. From downtown the drive takes 15 to 25 minutes, less after a National City or Spring Valley job.

What your Bonita appointment looks like

  1. Send a photo of the door

Text or send the form with your Bonita address and a photo of the door from inside the garage. Salt-air wear on the springs and cables shows in that shot.

  2. Standard or galvanized, decided up front

From the photo and the distance to the water we tell you whether coated springs and cables are worth it, and quote both ways.

  3. One visit, parts on the truck

Springs wound and balanced, cables seated, opener limits set. A pair of torsion springs takes 45 minutes to an hour.

  4. Run it, then pay

You open and close the door yourself before we pack up. Payment is on completion.

Bonita questions

Our Bonita home has a three-car garage with two openers. Can you service both doors on one visit?

Yes. A double door and a single installed together are the same age, so when a spring or opener on one gives out, the other is usually not far behind. On one visit we check both doors, their springs, cables, rollers and hinges, and both openers, fix what needs fixing and tell you what can wait. It saves you a second appointment and keeps the two doors on the same maintenance clock.

Our Bonita garage still has the springs, cables and opener from when the house was built. Should they be replaced together?

Not all at once by default, but they should be judged together. Springs and cables of the same age wear out close together, so when one spring goes we usually replace the pair and the cables with it. The opener is a separate call: if it runs smoothly and reverses on its sensors, it can stay. An opener from before 1993 with no photo eyes near the floor is due for replacement.

Can one remote run both doors on our Bonita three-car garage?

Usually, yes. Most current remotes have two or three buttons, and each button can be programmed to a different opener, so one remote can run the double door and the single. The HomeLink buttons in many cars work the same way. The catch is age: an opener from the 1990s may use an older radio system than new remotes, and sometimes that opener is due for replacement anyway.
