Quotes and pricing

Quotes are based on the information and photos you give us (single or double door, what it is doing, the opener). If the door on site differs materially from what was described, for example a heavy custom wood door described as a standard steel door, we tell you the revised price before doing any work. You can say no at that point, and if we are already on site the only charge is the diagnosis visit.

Scope of work

We perform minor repairs on residential garage doors and openers: springs, cables and drums, rollers and hinges, tracks and off-track resets, opener repair and replacement, safety sensors, remotes and keypads, seals, single sections and garage door locks. Each job stays under $1,000 in labor and materials and needs no building permit, which is work California does not require a contractor license for (Business and Professions Code section 7048). We are not a licensed contractor. We do not install new garage doors, take permit work or structural work, or split a larger job into pieces to stay under the limit; we will tell you when a job needs a licensed contractor.

Safety

Garage door springs, cables, drums and bottom brackets are under high tension. By booking you agree not to adjust, remove or disconnect them yourself before or after our visit, and to keep people and vehicles clear of a door we have told you not to operate until it is repaired.

Authorization

By booking you confirm that you own the property or are authorized by the owner, HOA or property manager to have its garage door repaired. We may ask for ID and proof of authorization, and we will not program remotes or keypads for anyone who cannot show they are entitled to access the property.

Payment

Payment is due once the door is done and you have run it yourself, unless invoicing was agreed in advance. Any part we supply is priced before it goes on.

Workmanship

If a door we repaired stops running right because of our workmanship, tell us and we will come back and correct it. This does not cover new damage, misuse, a vehicle striking the door, sections or tracks that continue to wear, water or pest intrusion from outside the door, or opener faults beyond our control; manufacturer warranties apply to parts, and springs carry the cycle rating of the spring fitted.

Website content

The guides and answers here are general information from a working technician and are not legal or engineering advice. Codes, HOA rules and hardware change, so confirm the current rules for your own door and building.
